User’s Guide to List Bulk Import 3.0, Part 1: The New Location of Log Files

List Bulk Import from Bamboo Solutions allows users to migrate data, documents, and pictures into SharePoint from legacy databases, spreadsheets, local/network file shares, and finally, Lists and Libraries from SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010, SharePoint 2013, or SharePoint Online (part of Microsoft’s Office 365 online hosting solution for all four current SharePoint platforms: 2007, 2010, 2013, and SharePoint Online).

As the first part of our series, this article will show you how to see log files in the new location.

With previous List Bulk Import versions, you will see the log file in C:Program FilesBamboo Solutions CorporationBamboo Bulk Import ApplicationLog. At this location, List Bulk Import only writes log files when importing data with users who must belong to the local Administrators group:

With List Bulk Import 3.0, you will see log files in C:UserschauhuynhDocumentsBamboo Solutions CorporationBamboo Bulk Import ApplicationLog. Changing the location of the imported files is to provide support for users who do not belong to the local Administrators group, so that they, too, may write log files while importing items.

In the Log Folder, we have two folders to get log files as follows:

  • Configuration Logs: The folder contains log files when List Bulk Import shows an error while importing items.
  • Import Audit Logs: The folder contains log files that write out importing details during the process.
