All these options, as well as the ability to: perform inline editing of data; apply conditional formatting and calculations to both the master data and the nested child data; and access Lists and List Rollup data views from all across your SharePoint farm, are all available now with the latest release of Data-Viewer Web Part. Here in part two, we’ll show you how to create and display List Data Calculations.
To help celebrate the release of Data-Viewer Web Part version 3.6, we have put together a brand-new 8-part series that will walk you through how to use the product’s newest and most popular features. Let us show you how to create and display List Data Calculations.
To begin, go to the tool pane. In the Column Display Settings dialog box, select the columns which you would like to see displayed on the Web Part in your List Data Calculation. In this example, we have chosen to display the following three columns: Product Name (i.e., Title), Profits (i.e., Currency), and Released Date (i.e., Date).
Return to your Home Site. You will now see the data for the three columns which you selected above displayed in Data-Viewer Web Part:
Next, return to the tool pane. To perform your List Data Calculation, you will first need to define which column you will be used to group your items. In this example, we will be grouping our items by the Date column
Return to your Home Site. You will now see the data for the three columns you selected, grouped by Date, displayed in Data-Viewer Web Part:
Next, go to the Calculations tab and click Add a Rule.
Under Column Name, select the column which you would like to calculate.
Under Operator, select the operation that you would like performed.
Under On Grouping?, be sure that you have selected Yes.
On Data-Viewer Web Part, you will now see displayed a total calculated for the data for the three columns you selected, grouped by Date:
In addition to calculating the sum of all the items in your grouping, Data-Viewer Web Part also allows you to simultaneously calculate and display different operators for the same column or different columns. Below, you will see that we have chosen to calculate both the sum of all of our columns as well as a count of the total number of items in the column:
