We’re excited to announce the latest release of Alert Plus, delivering one of the most requested features from our community, Folder-Level Alerts for Document Libraries, along with a series of usability and performance improvements.

This release is all about giving you more control over where alerts are triggered and how they behave, especially in complex document library scenarios.

What’s New in This Release

Folder-Level Alerts for Document Libraries

You can now create alerts scoped specifically to folders within a document library, making it easier to monitor structured content without unnecessary noise.

Key capabilities include:

• Folder Scope Options
  • Monitor items within the current folder only
  • Monitor items within the current folder and all subfolders
• Folder-Only Alerts
  • Trigger alerts when a folder itself changes (created, modified, deleted)
  • Ignore activity within the folder’s contents
  • Prevent alert flooding when bulk changes occur inside folders

This provides a much-needed level of precision for teams managing large, hierarchical document repositories.

Improved Alert Behavior for Libraries vs Lists

We’ve enhanced the Step 1 experience to better align with how SharePoint handles different data types:

• SharePoint Lists
  • Standard trigger selection
  • Straightforward configuration
• Document Libraries
  • Additional configuration options for:
    • Folder scope
    • Alert behavior (items vs folders)
    • Event trigger selection

This ensures a more intuitive setup experience tailored to your content type.

Item-Level Alerts

Create alerts directly on individual items without needing filters or broader scopes.

• Monitor a single document or list item
• Ideal for approvals, contracts, or high-priority records
• Faster setup with precise targeting

New WYSIWYG Editor (with Table Support)

We’re introducing a modern WYSIWYG editor for alert emails.

• Rich text formatting
• Table support for structured data
• Improved readability and presentation
• No more manual HTML editing

This enhancement directly addresses a known limitation and significantly improves the alert experience.

Alert Templates

Speed up alert creation and ensure consistency with reusable templates.

How it works:

• Templates are predefined for each trigger type, with separate sets for Lists and Document Libraries
• Templates are stored centrally in the backend for consistency
• When creating an alert:
  • Select a trigger
  • Click “Use Template”
  • The system auto-populates:
    • Alert Name (including a unique identifier such as date/time)
    • Subject
    • Body
    • For summary alerts, Header and Footer
    • Alert Description

Why it matters:

• Faster setup – create alerts in seconds
• Standardization – consistent messaging across teams
• Reduced errors – no missing tokens or formatting gaps
• Designed to avoid unsupported scenarios, such as deleted item token issues

Whether creating a single alert or managing many, templates streamline the entire process.

Assign Alerts to Users

Administrators will be able to create and manage alerts on behalf of other users.

• Assign alerts directly to individuals

• Ideal for onboarding, compliance, and managed service scenarios

Enhanced Alert Admin Picker Experience

A new and improved selection experience for Alert Admin:

• Browse and select SharePoint Sites
• Easily locate Lists and Libraries
• Navigate and select folders within libraries

This enhancement simplifies one of the most important steps in the alert creation process.
