Announcing the Release of PM Central 2.1: Now with In-Place Upgrade from SharePoint 2007 to 2010

I know that many of you have been waiting patiently for this announcement, so I’ll get right to it: You can now migrate your existing PM Central from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010! But wait, that’s not all – we also added some additional features to make your life easier with project management in SharePoint. Here are a few of the highlights of the newly added features:

  • Upgrade PM Central R2.1 from SP 2007 to SP 2010 using a database detach/attach upgrade method and PM Central in-place upgrade component. See KB.12652 or the in-place upgrade blog for more info.
  • Schedule tab/Gantt View: Replaced the event receiver with the Bamboo Update Dashboard List timer job for updates. This helps with the server performance.
  • Allow Edit in Datasheet mode for SharePoint Lists via Data-Viewer Web Part R3.2.

What’s next for PM Central? Of course, we are not done improving our flagship project management application for SharePoint. We are currently working on enhancements to SharePoint Task Master, which is the beating heart of PM Central for task and schedule management. We will also be adding more features to PM Central such as time management, a Scrum template, and workflow, and we’ll be integrating with a new community application to make PM Central your essential Project Management and Community Ecosystem in SharePoint. So stay tuned to the Bamboo Team Blog for further announcements, and check our storefront for additional updates on PM Central product news.
