As one of the main components of Project Management Central (PM Central), Navigators allows users to create custom menus, tabs, and tree items and provides a Site Actions menu to navigate to sites, pages, or lists within and across sites and site collections. With the latest Navigators release, version 1.5, we’ve added the ability to create mega menus. A mega menu is a two-dimensional menu that allows users to display a large sitemap-like menu, expand menus, or link to pages with additional navigation.
In this article, we’ll show you how to use mega menus in PM Central. Before we begin, please note that you must have the following applications installed in order to take advantage of mega menus:
- Project Management Central 4.2(PM Central)
- SharePoint Server or SharePoint Foundation, 2010 or 2013
Mega Menu using the Lite Template
To begin, create a top site, department site, and project site using the lite template in PM Central.
From the top site, select PM Central Control Panel from Central Actions. Under PM Central General Settings, click on Manage PM Central Features.
In the section Enable All, click the Enable button. The top site and project site will now have all of their features enabled, including the ability to manage resources such as the Enterprise Resource Pool, resource assignments, resource availability, and more.
Return to the Control Panel. You will now see tabs for the Report Center as well as the Resource Center.
Under PM Central General Settings, click on Change skin. For the mega menu, you have two different options from which to choose: Custom with Mega Menu for Report & Resource Center or Classic with Mega Menu for Report & Resource Center. Select one of the options and click the Apply button.
You can view your mega menu either going to Report Center > View reports or Resource Center > Resource Management.
The instructions above can also be applied to department sites. Simply following the steps above in your department site and go to Report Center > View reports or Resource Center > Resource Management to view your mega menu.
Mega Menu using the Full Template
Create a top site, department site and project site using the full template in PM Central. Your default skin setting in both the top site as well as the department site full templates will be the mega menu. Similar to the process above, you can view your mega menu either going to Report Center > View reports or Resource Center > Resource Management.
Please note that the mega menus are only available on the top sites and the department site. The mega menu is NOT available currently for project sites.
