Announcing the Release of Project Management Central 4.3 for SharePoint 2010

Project Management (PM) Central 4.3, available now for SharePoint 2010 and coming soon to SharePoint 2013, offers great new features as well as small improvements to optimize your project management experience.

Our product refinements are based largely upon user feedback and take into account the variety of applications our customers employ. The result is a product that provides a leap forward in user experience and accessibility,
while focusing on what really matters to an organization for successful project management.

The list of new improvements is exhaustive, but we’ve selected a few to highlight below. Here’s a first look at the new features and improvements included in the latest release:

Enhanced Task Management

We’ve introduced new task management capabilities in PM Central, powered by our Task Master Web Part. The newly enhanced Web Part offers several new features that improve usability: Project plans can be copied from Excel and pasted directly into the task interface; tasks can be indented and outdented to make parent-child relations; Project schedules and tasks can be reordered through drag-and-drop, and project managers can quickly communicate with their team sending messages to assignees directly from the interface.

Improved Risk Charting

Risk charts have been overhauled to synthesize and display granular data in a more powerful, readable way. With the new Business Value field, as well as the updated chart interface, users are able to get a sense of a given project’s risk profile at a glance.

Discussion Board Plus Integration

The Discussions tab now integrates with Discussion Board Plus (sold separately). The new project templates using Discussion Board Plus provide users with a powerful alternative to standard SharePoint discussions.

This includes: sticky posts, custom icons, suggested and verified answers, private posts and replies, and advanced filtering, tagging, and search capabilities.

Optimized Control Panel

We’ve made it a snap for users to generate and gather reports from the Report Center. We have also provided the ability to enable the Auto Update option across the entire portfolio, which automatically updates the project dates based on the tasks list.

These comprehensive advances, coupled with a more intuitive interface and setup process, make configuring and using PM Central easier than ever before.
