Announcing the Launch of Alert Plus
Introducing Alert Me and Alert Admin for Microsoft 365
We are excited to officially announce the launch of Alert Plus, our next-generation alerting platform built for Microsoft 365.
Alert Plus represents a complete reimagining of the legacy Alert Plus solution, rebuilt from the ground up with modern architecture, scalable services, and a streamlined user experience designed specifically for today’s SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 environments.
This launch includes two powerful web parts:
- Alert Me
- Alert Admin
Together, they provide flexible, enterprise-ready alerting capabilities with a modern, scalable backend.
A Modern Foundation for Enterprise Alerting
Powered by a scalable backend services architecture, Alert Plus is designed for performance, reliability, and growth. Whether you’re running alerts across a single department or an enterprise-wide deployment, the new platform is built to handle increasing volume and complexity.
Key architectural highlights:
- Cloud-first, scalable backend services
- Optimized performance for Microsoft 365
- Modern SPFx web part experience
- Improved UI and usability
- Advanced token support for intelligent notifications
This isn’t just an update, it’s a transformation.
Meet the Web Parts
Alert Me
Alert Me empowers end users to easily create and manage alerts on SharePoint lists and document libraries.
Users can:
- Create alerts on lists and libraries across their tenant
- Configure flexible notification conditions
- Use advanced tokens for dynamic, contextual messaging
- Manage all alerts in one centralized interface
Alert Me is designed to be intuitive for business users while powerful enough for complex use
cases.
Alert Admin
Designed for administrators and power users who need greater oversight and
governance.
As a modern SPFx web part, Alert Admin is deployed to the App Catalog and added to a page like
any other SharePoint web part. Once added, users can:
- Create alerts using a fully qualified list or library URL
- Manage existing alerts
- Provide structured alert management across teams or departments
Alert Admin replaces the legacy Alert Plus administrative experience with a modern, streamlined
interface aligned with Microsoft 365 best practices.
What’s Next: The March Release
While we’re proud of this launch, we’re just getting started.
Our March release focuses on expanding alert precision and control. These enhancements are
based on customer feedback and real-world usage scenarios.
Here’s what’s coming:
Item Level Alerts
Users will be able to create alerts targeting a specific item — not just a list or library.
Item-level alerts can be created by:
- Using the context menu directly on an item
- Selecting an item and choosing an alert option from the ribbon
This enables highly targeted notifications when changes occur to a specific document or record.
Why it matters:
Greater precision means less noise and more actionable notifications.
Target Folder Alerts (Document Libraries)
The March release introduces enhanced folder-level alerting within document libraries.
This feature includes two powerful capabilities:
Folder + Subfolder Alerts
Create an alert on a folder and automatically include all subfolders beneath it.
Perfect for monitoring a department folder structure without alerting on the entire library.
Folder-Only Alerts (Excluding Contents)
Create an alert that triggers only when a folder is added, not for every item inside that folder.
This refinement ensures:
- Cleaner notifications
- Reduced alert noise
- Clearer operational signals when new project or client folders are created
This was a highly requested feature and significantly improves folder-based monitoring scenarios.
The Journey Continues
Alert Plus has officially launched, but we view this as the beginning.
Our roadmap includes:
- Continued performance optimization
- Expanded targeting capabilities
- Ongoing UX improvements
- Deeper administrative controls
- Enhanced governance and scalability
We are committed to evolving Alert Plus into the most flexible and powerful alerting solution
available for Microsoft 365.
Thank You
