Sneak Peek at Task Master R3.5 for Project Management

Task Master has been used as a standalone project scheduler as well as an integrated solution in our Bamboo Project Management Central™ application, and has benefitted many customers to date. As organizations gain project management maturity, project planning and scheduling gains complexity, and project managers and team members want to do more with their project scheduler tool. In response to your requests, Bamboo is pleased to announce that the following high-demand featuresalong with many morewill be added to Task Master with R3.5 for SharePoint 2010:

  • Display tasks from multiple projects in a single view;
  • Allow multiple resources to be assigned to the same tasks with various assignment units;
  • Task Mode options such as:
    • Increase or decrease duration so the task ends sooner (or later) but requires the same total work;
    • Increase or decrease the total work because the task requires fewer (or more) work hours, keeping duration constant;

1. Is there a limitation on how many project schedules and project sites can be aggregated and displayed in the Task Master? Will there be a filter on which projects to display?

2. Will the aggregated project schedules be exportable to MS Project and maintain the correct task hierarchy?

For question 1: It depends on your hardware (cpu, processor…etc.). When our QA tested using the spec below, they noticed with large data where you have the total of over 6500 items, Task Master would time out.

Window Server 2008 R2

.  Sharepoint 2010 64bit

. Core™ i5 CPU, 2.67 GHz and 4G Ram

. Number of Processors: 2

. Number of cores per Processor: 2

For question 2: You can export but the hierarchy will not maintain in MS Project afterward.
