The Sharing the Point express tour is gearing up again! Heads up, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Antarctica … the tour is heading your way in January for Sharing the Point South America.
As you may recall, it was a distinct honor for me to be invited to join the inaugural Sharing the Point tour when the SharePoint community initiative launched in Asia in March of this year. (It was also Bamboo’s pleasure to host the tour finale in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, home of our Research and Development headquarters). I likened my participation on the tour to that of an “embedded journalist,” serving as lead blogger for the tour, which featured SharePoint household names Dux Raymond Sy, Joel Oleson, Mark Miller, Michael Noel, Paul Swider, and Rob LaMear sharing their expertise at unforgettable community events in Beijing, Manila, and Ho Chi Minh City.
On the way to the airport to fly home from Ho Chi Minh City after a successful tour-ending event, Rob LaMear, tour speaker and CEO of Fpweb.net (sole sponsor of the Sharing the Point Asia tour, thus making the entire event possible) said, “So where are we going next year?” With the happy confirmation at the conclusion of what had been an extremely successful tour that there would be a “next year,” South America pretty much immediately became the frontrunner among possible destinations.
And lo, it shall come to pass that I’ll be covering noted SharePoint evangelists Joel Oleson, Michael Noel, Mark Miller, Paul Swider, Dan Holme, Ricardo Munoz, and Rick Taylor as they engage with the SharePoint communities in:
1/21/2012 – Buenos Aires, Argentina
1/23/2012 – Montevido, Uruguay
1/24/2012 – Santiago, Chile
1/26/2012 – Villa las Estrellas, Antarctica
As a SharePoint community initiative, registration for all Sharing the Point South America events will be free to attendees. Registration is now open for all events, and additional information is available at SharingThePoint.org, which has just been given a slick redesign, courtesy of SharePoint Design Labs.
You may be wondering how an event of this logistical magnitude can possibly be free to attendees. Well, joining the mighty Fpweb.net as a sponsor in making Sharing the Point South America possible are our good friends at AvePoint. Each of these fine companies will be ably represented on the tour, in the form of the aforementioned Mark Miller and Dan Holme respectively, and they are deserving of big ups from the SharePoint community in appreciation of their generosity. Three cheers for Fpweb.net and AvePoint!
