Editor’s
note: Longtime readers may recall our “New
Faces” series, in which we would introduce our new hires to Bamboo Nation.
Here’s our latest crop of new hires that we are excited to acquaint you with!
When did you join the
Bamboo Solutions team, and what is your role?
I joined the Bamboo team at the beginning of July 2014 as a
Staff Accountant.
What are your
personal goals regarding your position for the next year?
My personal goal is to get a better grasp of the variables that factor into each department’s financials.
What’s your
professional background?
I have an academic background in Accounting, Economics, and
Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. My background covers
different roles in industries such as freight forwarding, government
contracting, restaurant hospitality, and retail. My gateway into corporate
accounting began at the third largest independent moving company in the United
States, JK Moving Services, where I was responsible for the financials for
their international department with customers ranging from private to corporate
to GSA and Military.
What prompted you to
join the Bamboo team?
During the interview process, I heard the word family and
teamwork multiple times, which shows the type of culture we have at Bamboo.
Even though I have only been here for a short time, the environment is very
casual and friendly.
What were some of
your first impressions of working at Bamboo?
The food!! They mentioned about potlucks and always eating
during my interview but it was nothing like I had imagined. The kitchen is
always filled with an array of different drinks and snacks.
With over 70 products
to learn, do you feel overwhelmed? What’s your strategy for getting up to
speed?
Although my job duties do not deal with our products
directly, I found that our training courses really help to understand our major
products.
Other than your deep
and abiding love of extending SharePoint, what interests or hobbies do you
enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy sports and video games outside of work.
