New Faces of Bamboo: Introducing Ned Dickert
Editor’s note: Longtime readers may recall our “New Faces” series, in which we would introduce our new hires to Bamboo Nation. Shamefully, my count, there are nearly 20 “new” faces at Bamboo since the series last appeared (in the spring of 2011!). In other words, we’re long overdue to make some introductions, so let’s not delay any longer, and continue making up for lost time…
When did you join the Bamboo Solutions team, and what is your role?
I joined the Bamboo team in July of 2012, and my role is Marketing Associate with a focus on imagery.
What are your personal goals regarding your position for the remainder of 2013?
My goals revolve around clean consistent branding across all Bamboo properties. I want to ensure that Bamboo is known for having the best emails, booth designs, and collateral among all companies in the SharePoint arena.
What’s your professional background?
I have a degree in communication studies and photography from Longwood University and have previously worked for a magazine, a TV station, and a large professional association, all in communication or marketing roles.
What prompted you to join the Bamboo team?
The opportunity to take over and manage an entire brand was the main draw for me; the proximity to my home was an added bonus!
What were some of your first impressions of working at Bamboo?
A wonderful community of people. Everyone here really clicks and the social culture is very inviting. Thankfully, the easy meshing of personalities is shown in the face of deadlines as well.
With over 70 products to learn, did/do you feel overwhelmed? What’s your strategy been for getting up to speed?
I try to think of our product line from the top-down. We have suites that focus on specific business areas, they are made up of applications and solutions that target tasks, and then there are the Web Parts that have very specific functionality. Once it’s broken down, it’s not too hard to follow.
Other than your deep and abiding love of extending SharePoint, what interests or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
Photography is near and dear to my heart. Being able to use my photographic abilities in the office is a HUGE plus for me. I am also a lover of the outdoors, with weekends often spent camping, rock climbing, hiking, and of course photographing.
