Editor’s note: As readers of our 2009 Year in Review series will have likely gathered, Bamboo is currently undergoing rapid growth. Some of our new hires have been with us for a couple of months now, but with new faces appearing in the office seemingly daily in recent weeks, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce the new folks to Bamboo Nation. You should expect to see many of these new faces beginning to appear regularly here in the Team Blog over the course of the year.
What is your role at Bamboo, and what are your goals for the year?
I’m proud to represent Bamboo in Europe as the European Account Manager. I am very excited about the direction that Bamboo is taking in building up and extending our team in Europe. I see a lot of dedication, enthusiasm, and drive to get the right people on board. My role is therefore not only to maintain our long-term relationships with customers and partners, but also includes further operational responsibilities. It is an exciting time for Bamboo and its customers.
What’s your professional background?
I’ve filled different roles within AOL Time Warner Publishing, National Geographic, Global Knowledge, and Cisco Systems, and my background includes training management, B2B, and sales
What prompted you to join the Bamboo team?
It’s a pleasure to join a flexible and very dynamic company whose customers include all different kinds of companies and industries, ranging from small businesses up to big players in the Fortune 500.
What are some of your first impressions of working at Bamboo?
Jeremy talked about this a little in his post from the Microsoft SharePoint Connections 2010 event, but let’s face it … what’s nicer than attending SharePoint Connections for the first time and having customers stop by the Bamboo booth to compliment you about your Web Parts and suites?
With over 60 products to learn, do you feel overwhelmed? What’s your strategy for getting up to speed?
60 products and counting, as I’m sure that our engineers will not stop at 60 products, so yes, there is a lot to learn, but I’m eager to gain knowledge in general. To get up and running for Europe, I will be traveling to Bamboo’s Reston, VA headquarters next month and will plan additional visits throughout the year.
Other than your deep and abiding love of Web Parts, what interests or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
My passions have always been: different cultures, travel, psychology, music, and events. Traveling and learning about the local’s habits, values and traditions is just wonderful. And if warm weather is involved, it’s even better.
Another abiding love I have is music. In the past, that particular passion led to organizing concerts, events and booking bands throughout Europe for several years.
