For all of you .NET Framework users, you will be happy to know that in Windows Server 2012, Microsoft supports .NET Framework 3.5 (the same model used in previous Windows releases) as well as .NET Framework 4.5 (the newest version). However, they’re not enabled default, so if you wish to use either one, you will need to manually turn them on.
- To start, go to Server Manager and click on Add Roles and Features:
- This will open the Add Roles and Features Wizard as seen in the picture below:
- Click NEXT>:
- Continue to click NEXT>:
- Continue to click NEXT>:
- Check the box next to your server, in this case Web Server (IIS) to add the server, and click NEXT>:
- This will reveal the .NET Framework feature. By default, the .NET Framework feature will be disabled. To enable it, check the box next to it as shown in the example below:
- Make sure that all of the functions you need enabled are checked. Click OK to update your settings (Note: This may take a minute or two).
