SHARE: The SharePoint Conference for Business Users is just under two weeks away, so I’m thinking that now is probably a good time to start building my schedule for the event. To help make the planning process easier, conference organizers have helpfully made available to attendees an online schedule builder tool.
Monday’s decisions are easy, as there are no competing events. SHARE officially kicks off on April 23 at 3 p.m. with Dux Raymond Sy’s “jumpstart workshop,” Delivering Enterprise SharePoint Success at SHARE. Dux’s workshop will be followed a welcome networking reception and exhibition in the Exhibit Hall that runs until 8 p.m. Be sure to stop our kiosk for a chat with the Bamboo gang.
Tuesday begins with a breakfast and coffee talk Donald T. Miller titled Mitigating Risk: The Importance of Information Governance – Real Life Stories. Dux is on again next for the opening address, which will be followed a pair of keynote presentations. The first keynote, Productivity Delivered, will be, um, delivered Gideon Bibliowicz, Microsoft Senior Product Manager. The second, a case study, RedCentral: Automating Coke Consolidated’s Salesforce, will be presented Coca-Cola’s VP, Operations Finance & Chief Accounting Officer Jody Billiard, and Shawn Olsen, Business Systems and CMS Manager.
The conference’s four tracks (Building the Roadmap, Delivering Business Value, Governance, and Training & Adoption) begin following the Tuesday keynotes, and this is where the difficult decisions come into play. Each track will have its own dedicated room for the duration of the conference, offering the added benefit of being able to follow an entire track (if one wishes to do so) without having to miss competing offerings within that same track. As well, case studies will be presented throughout all four tracks.
I won’t be able to attend a session in every timeslot (since I need to take time out to blog the sessions I do sit in on), but if I were able to do so, here’s what my own Tuesday session schedule would probably look like:
- Case Study: Project Management: An Entire World of SharePoint Users – Linnea Lewis, Program Manager, Denver Public Schools
- How to Best Develop Requirements for SharePoint Projects – Dux Raymond Sy, PMP, SharePoint MVP, Managing Partner, Innovative-e
- The Steps to Effective SharePoint Governance – Richard Harbridge, Sr. Consultant, Allin Consulting
- Reducing Organizational Risk through the Automatic Application of Metadata and Policies in SharePoint 2010 – Lt Col David Sanchez, USAF Pilot Physician Program
The conference proper wraps up for the day Tuesday with a keynote panel discussion on Real World SharePoint Governance moderated AvePoint’s Jeremy Thake, followed a guest keynote presentation Braam Malherbe. Following the guest keynote will be a cocktail reception in the Exhibit Hall, after which there will be a special event at the Hard Rock Café to conclude the day’s activities.
Stay tuned, as I’ll plot my course for the remainder of the conference tomorrow.
Reminder: Tomorrow is your last day to enter to win a free pass to the SHARE Conference.
